Standards
During this unit, students will be able to:
- Develop a sketch into a finished drawing
- Create a finished expressive portrait drawing that demonstrates understanding of volume and proportion
- Use oil pastels to draw facial features and proportions, layer and blend colors, use tones and warm and cool colors
- Observe and describe human expressions in line drawings
- Use art vocabulary in group discussions of specific artwork by responding to works of art by various artists and each other
- Compare and contrast figurative drawings from different periods
- Use the internet to research self-portraits by famous artists
